Rare is the homeowner who keeps up with the endless repairs a home requires. You can’t call a general contractor to replace one piece of trim, yet you want someone knowledgeable and responsible. A reference for a good handyman is passed around like gold amongst friends and neighbors. With his broad experience in building and maintenance, and a list of references as long as your to-do list, Michael Mandernach of CityFix will bring your home up to snuff.

Michael is a journeyman carpenter and painter with experience in residential and commercial property maintenance since 1986. His skill set enabled him to travel the world doing everything from home building in Polynesia to commercial highrise repairs in Sydney. After resettling in Los Angeles in 2004, Michael established CityFix and has steadily built up his loyal client base.

Michael will work on any handyman job with a two-hour minimum. With his broad knowledge of home and property maintenance, he can fix anything around your house. He can clean or repair gutters, repair leaks and is great at large clean-up jobs, such as hauling debris, driveway cleaning, garage organization or pressure washing your home.

CityFix is a small operation with low overhead. When you need an honest, reliable handyman who takes pride in the quality of his work and has the ability to set his clients’ minds at ease, Michael is the guy to call. His motto: “One call does it all!”

Tip: Before you bring a handyman on the job, send him a to-do list. It will save him time and you money because he’ll know what to bring on his truck.

Michael does wonderful, meticulous work. I trust him so much I give him access to my entire house, including my garage door opener. When he works at my house, I leave him drinks and a lunch. Thank you, thank you, neighbor2neighbor, for Michael Mandernach! He has done tile work and roof repair. He is a great communicator, explaining everything and letting me know the price up front. He sticks to his quote and doesn’t throw in any extras. He always delivers what he says he will deliver and shows up on time, or calls ahead to let me know. His prices are fair and comparable to the market prices. The quality of his work makes him worth the price. Michael is very professional, honest, reliable and trustworthy. He sings while he works and actually has a good voice! He feels like family. He is extremely respectful of me and of my home. I highly recommend him.
- Marcella Manzanedo, Los Feliz

Michael is a wonderful, honest man. He does all that he says he will do and more. His rates are very reasonable, too. He has fixed some cement steps that were chipping, repaired doors and painted an entire room. He also has crazy great ideas! We received some DJ equipment from Puerto Rico in a large wooden crate. Michael built a terrific bar outside by the pool from the shipping crate. It has glass on top and a shelf for bottles. Another great idea he had was to hang pictures from the ceiling. We are very detail oriented and fast-paced around here. Michael works just the way we want things done. He usually comes the very day we call because he knows how busy we are. We are leasing this house, and the management company often sends their own people to repair things. They send different people all the time and we would rather have CityFix here, so we often just take care of jobs that way. Michael’s work is the best!
- Michael M., Sunset Plaza

Michael has many different skills and the tools to do everything. Some of the work he has done includes: repairing the sidewalk, repairing some custom doors and fixing the washer/dryer. On our first meeting, Michael and I spoke at length about our life experiences and I found him to be very simpatico. I am impressed with how knowledgeable he is. He often responds the same day I call or the very next day. I have not used any other handyman so cannot compare his prices, but he gives good value for the work he does. He always finishes every job he starts. He does not leave and go to another job and then come back to mine. With Michael Mandernach you get first class results. I give him an A-1 recommendation.
- Cal Watkins, Rancho Park

I found Michael in neighbor2neighbor. We had a heavy, seven-foot sliding door that other handymen did not want to repair for me. Michael figured out the complicated problem with the wheels of the door. It required courage for him to remove it from the frame and replace the wheels. He found the solution and the job was a success. He has also changed hardware on our cabinet doors, caulked the bathtub, retouched paint, resurfaced a balcony after fixing a leak, repaired towel bars that had been installed incorrectly and fixed a water problem in the powder room sink that had also been put in incorrectly. In one morning he tends to a variety of problems. He handles jobs that are more than my husband can handle, but jobs that I don’t want to call a general contractor for. He tackles difficult projects and his prices are fair. I am very happy to have found CityFix and will keep using him.
- Karen R., Brentwood

I love Michael! I found him in neighbor2neighbor. He is efficient and professional. The price stays as he quotes it. He is very knowledgeable and makes the job a pleasant experience. He built cabinets in a closet for me. He fixed a washer and dryer that were not hooked up correctly when they were delivered. If there’s a job he can’t do himself, he calls in a specialist. His prices are very in-line with other handyman, but if his price sounds a little higher, he is so fast and efficient, it still ends up being a lower price! He has helped me in a lot of ways. I even trust him enough to let him work in my home when I’m not there.
- Janet Forticq, Hancock Park

Michael makes himself available, early morning, late evening and on weekends. He is extremely polite and serious about what he does. His estimates and bills are clear, understandable and in the ballpark. He can do anything and will go the extra mile, any extra mile! When he cannot do something, he will say so up front instead of trying to do it anyway. He has laid carpeting, arranged my courtyard, and many other jobs. Always with a smile! Michael Mandernach is an incredible resource!
- Pierre David, Century City

Michael doesn't just hang curtain rods and curtains, which is the main
thing we needed, he helps you find solutions. What a difference to
have a workman really interested in your choices and making sure that
you get what you want. He even had a custom blind cut for me at Home
Depot and took it himself when we did not like it. Now, he is keeping
an eye out for a good deal on what we want. I will be calling
Michael in the future for all of our handy man (and bigger jobs) needs.

Thank you neighbor2neighbor!!!
- Marlea and Bill Burns

Overall Michael does an excellent job and his pricing is very fair. He's reliable and a hard worker. I had a builder who was remodeling my house, but there were a bunch of extras that were not in the contract that I had Michael do, such as some masonry, installing windows, adding baseboards and painting them, and staining and varnishing my doors. He stayed late - even until midnight at one point to accommodate our schedule. He gives 110% for sure! I have been recommending him since he worked on our place.
- Mike Christy, Mount Washington

Michael has done many different things around my house. He is an all around nice guy and good worker. His carpentry skills are really good. He’s the kind of guy who will let you know if he needs a professional to help. As a general handyman he is excellent! His pricing is competitive—not ultra cheap. He gives me a price and is conscientious about sticking to it. Michael is a great guy to call when you need someone to help you out. He makes everything seem easy.
- Amy A., Silverlake

Michael did repairs to a house I was selling. He worked closely with us to keep costs low. There were issues because it’s a 70 year-old home. Michael stands by his work. He took on some really small tasks, which a lot of guys wouldn’t do. He was on time and clean. He did a lot of fussy repair work, replacing and fixing trim and moulding. He repaired a large crack in the stucco from the ’94 quake. The wall looks better than before the crack! Your average guy off the street can’t do that.
- Roger Gohl, Oxnard

I’ve used Michael since November to do a bunch of handyman work. I’ve been very happy with him. The quality of his work is excellent. He has done things like hung doors, patched and plastered a cracked exterior wall, helped install custom cabinets, and laid pavers for a walkway. I think he’s great!
- Gail Simke, Beverlywood

Michael’s work is incredible. He has done numerous things for me. He is knowledgeable in many different areas and makes sure you know what he is doing. We picked out wood together and there we were waltzing through Home Depot, with him explaining everything to me. You get peace of mind with Michael. He is thorough and professional. He is really into his work and his customers. His pricing is very fair. You are never in the dark with Michael. That’s what I like. And you don’t mind showing off his work. I am proud of what he has done for me.
- Tommy H., Malibu

Michael did some excellent patching and painting after I had some electrical work done. He was very conscientious and got the wall smooth and the paint to match. I was relieved that I didn’t have to call my general contractor to do this – he would have wanted more money for the work and wouldn’t have wanted to do it! While he was there, Michael also fixed the wood trim above the entry. His pricing was right on target and his work was great.
