Owning a fish tank is a little like playing God. You create a world, and populate it with creatures that will hopefully prosper in harmony. If they don’t, you have to nurse the sick and bury the dead. If playing God feels like too much for you, and you just want the part where you rejoice in the beauty of your tank, then you want to hire Mike Russo of Everything Fish.
Mike has been building and maintaining fish tanks and ponds for 15 years. He can do anything from a small Betta bowl in your kids’ room, to a 500-gallon coral reef tank sunk into the wall of your swinging bachelor pad.
Mike does the wet work too, cleaning the algae, scooping out the floaters, saving fish that have succumbed to “ick.” “I can walk in and tell what’s wrong with a tank at first glance,” Mike affirms.
What sets Mike apart from his competition is his sterling reputation and cast-iron work ethic. In a business where his competitors flood living rooms, kill fish or simply don’t show up, Mike is always at your home on time, with a truckload of supplies on hand to bring joy to your fish world. He may not be God, but he is
a godsend.
Tip: “Do not overfeed the fish! It causes all kinds of problems in both ponds and tanks.” – Mike
Mike of Everything Fish is great. He designed our fish tanks about ten years ago. He talked with the owners at length about the tanks they wanted and the kids of fish they could choose from. He has been servicing the tanks since then. If we have any concerns about the tanks or the fish, he gets right back with us. If we are worried about a fish, he comes within one day! The fish and the aquariums are obviously very important to him.

We have lived in Hancock Park for thirty years. Twenty years ago we did a major remodel; we had a 300 gallon saltwater wall tank installed, encompassing a 15-foot wall, with a marble surround. It is a six-foot square with a bubble in the center. About a year and a half ago, when the pipes had corroded, we decided to make a change. I called three or four other companies who felt the job would be too challenging. But Mike accepted the job. He and his assistant cleaned the entire tank, rocks and all, standing on a ladder because you have to get into it from the top. A huge undertaking! We have an automatic feeder and Mike comes once a week to clean and feed. We are just thrilled. Not one fish has died! His pricing is very reasonable. He is punctual and honest. He works all over from the valley to Korea Town where he works for the Gallina Aquarium. We highly recommend this very personable man and couldn’t be happier. The main thing is he accepted the challenge. Mike is a gem!
- Jeff and Sandy Veitch, Hancock Park
I can tell you Mike is an honest, hardworking responsible human; in an emergency he is right here! Fifteen years ago we had a big aquarium and started using Everything Fish then. Now we have an outside turtle pond. Mike goes out of his way to be here when we need him. He comes twice a week, does a very good job, offers quality service and I highly recommend him!
- Beth Cutler, Beverly Hills
I have five fish tanks here in a room in my house that Mike comes to take care of once a week. He has become a good friend; he is a great conversationalist and his work is A+. Mike is one of a family of professional assistants. He is completely self-contained. He single-handedly cleans the tanks and inside pool without disrupting the running of our household. He and my housekeeper have become good friends. Mike and Everything Fish is important to our fish tanks.

I started with Mike Russo around seven years ago when I had another company and all my fish died. He came in and started from scratch. He is dependable, reliable, responsible, readily available and best of all, I have healthy fish! He comes in once a week. His prices are middle of the road.
