Carl Doucette is a wonderful person and it is a pleasure to know him! He and his wife have become personal friends of mine. I have a lot of animals and Carl does not use any toxic chemicals. I live in the hills and have an ongoing rat problem. Carl has rat-proofed my old home, plugged all the holes and even came over on a weekend to remove a dead rat because I was so freaked out. We inherited Innovative Pest Management through the City of Santa Monica because our facility is under the Santa Monica Pier. And because we’re under the pier, there are a lot of critters—especially rats and cockroaches. Carl or someone from his company comes about once a month. My friends think I am crazy, but when he comes, I always give Carl a bear hug. He is great—possibly one of the most wonderful men I have ever met. Carl is very passionate about pests and gets rid of them in the best way. Being an aquarium, we have live animals and fish so we have to be careful with what is used in the facility. We have a life support system in the back that runs the aquarium. It has pumps, chillers, etc, that keep the fish alive and in the back, the tops of the tanks are open with no covers. He embraced the tricky dilemma of our live exhibits. If we have pests, he always researches to make sure what he chooses to use will not harm any of the animals. He does a lot of research and if he doesn't know something, he will go do more research and come back with a solution. He does so much more than simply getting the job done. Carl is just an amazing guy. His is a family business, so his son comes in and works with him and I like that. I love supporting this company. His employees are incredibly helpful and give wonderful service. They are completely reliable, on time and like I said, they really know their stuff. Carl listens and asks questions and will work with you. He truly loves what he does. I cannot recommend him enough!

I came to Santa Monica Pier maintenance in 1991, and Carl’s company was already here. He serves all of our pest needs. Once a month he comes for an inspection. He sets traps for rodents and flying insects. Sometimes he ropes off areas where bees are swarming and calls a company to relocate them. Our bee population is declining and so Carl would rather relocate them than exterminate them. Twelve years ago, he treated our carousel for termites and they have never come back. Carl is a really good, nice guy. When we call Innovative Pest, Carl is “Johnny on the spot” within hours. They are very knowledgeable. They use up to date, innovative techniques. They really know their game!
